When Everything Feels Too Much

When Everything Feels Too Much

For when too many things are happening at once and even doing everything you can still doesn’t feel like enough.

Hey! You're here. So pause and breathe ...

I'm glad you stopped to take care of you for a moment. You don't have to figure anything out right now. Whatever's waiting for you can wait for just a few moments, if you're able to set it aside.

Let's spend some time with God before we think about anything else.

01 · Word Flow Breathing Prayer

Let’s Breathe Together

Three gentle cycles. Breathe naturally, and skip the four-second hold if holding your breath feels uncomfortable.

Breath 1 Inhale “Lord, You see all I’m facing.”

Hold 4 seconds — optional

Exhale “I bring it all before You.”
Breath 2 Inhale “I receive Your peace for today.”

Hold 4 seconds — optional

Exhale “I release what I cannot control.”
Breath 3 Inhale “Lord, lead me in Your wisdom.”

Hold 4 seconds — optional

Exhale “I’ll take my next step with You.”
02 · God’s Word

Let’s Start With God’s Word

2 Chronicles 20:12

Jehoshaphat acknowledges that his people do not know what to do and turns their attention to God.

Matthew 6:34

Jesus brings our attention back to the day we’re actually living.

03 · A Little Encouragement

Can I Ask You Something?

Have you ever had so much happening at once that you didn't even know which problem to start with?

Maybe it's not just a long list of things to do. Maybe something has happened with your family, finances, marriage, work, or health. Before you've had time to deal with one situation, something else comes along. You're making the calls, looking for answers, and trying to figure out what comes next.

And you're tired. Not because you haven't been doing enough. You may be exhausted because you've been doing everything you can, and it still doesn't seem like enough.

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat is facing something greater than his own ability. He doesn't pretend to have the answer. He turns toward God. The threat hasn't vanished, but it no longer gets his entire attention.

Surrender doesn't mean doing nothing. You can make the call, seek help, fill out the form, make a budget, or set a boundary and still be surrendered. It means faithfully doing what's yours while trusting God with what exceeds your ability.

Maybe you've been carrying tomorrow's problems on top of today's responsibilities. Or you've been trying to control an outcome you can't determine. We can come back to today. God knows about the tomorrow you're so worried about.

Think of Israel receiving manna in Exodus 16. God provided in a daily rhythm. They still had to gather what was given, but producing it wasn't their responsibility. Today may call for one decision, one necessary task, one conversation, or a little time to rest.

And there's another truth I want you to carry. Sometimes the situation in front of you feels enormous because it's the only thing you can see. Second Corinthians 4 invites us to remember the eternal perspective. We're not saying the pain is small. We're remembering God's view is larger than what this moment allows us to see.

There is another side to this. It may not look the way you first imagined. Some things may change or need to be rebuilt. But you don't have to see the whole road to walk with the One who's already ahead of you.

Return to God's presence before the pressure makes another decision for you. Receive His peace. Ask Him for wisdom about what's yours to do today. Take one faithful step—not ten.

04 · RENEWED Reflection

What’s Yours to Carry Today?

When you look at everything weighing on your mind, some things are your responsibility, some things you can influence, and some things are outside your control. Overwhelm grows when you try to carry all three as though they depend entirely on you.

You don't have to fill out another worksheet to receive God's peace. But if it would help, draw three small headings: What I can do. What I can influence. What I need to entrust to God. Put only one or two things under each. Choose one action from the first heading, not ten.

Remember this when everything starts feeling urgent: pressure can be loud without becoming your leader. Receive what God gives for this moment before you decide what comes next.

Hear

Do

A Few Truths for the Pressure

“This is light. This is temporary.”

2 Corinthians 4:16–18 — Eternal perspective, not minimizing pain.

“There’s another side.”

Psalm 66:10–12 — The journey is not limited to the present difficulty.

“There is another side to this.”

An immediate reminder when today feels like the whole story.

“You will see the other side.”

Hopeful reassurance, not a promise of a particular outcome or timeline.

“He will walk with you to the other side.”

Isaiah 43:2 · Psalm 23:4 — His presence through the hard places.

“Though it may tarry, it will surely come.”

Habakkuk 2:3 — God’s appointed vision in its original context; do not attach a guaranteed date to every personal hope.

05 · Guided Pause • Breathe • Return

Come Back to This Moment

Pause: If it’s safe, stop for one minute. Don’t use that minute to rehearse everything still waiting for you. Name what feels heavy without trying to solve it.

Breathe and exchange: Breathe naturally. Bring the urgency to God; receive His peace and remember that He sees more than you do. “God, help me see this from where You are.”

Return: Ask what’s yours to do, what’s yours to pray about, and what you cannot control. Choose one faithful next step. Return again when the pressure rises.

06 · Before You Go, Let’s Pray

A Prayer for This Moment

Father, there's a lot happening, and sometimes it seems like everything needs me at once. You know what I've tried, what I'm waiting to hear, and the things I don't know how to fix.

Help me stop using every quiet moment to rehearse tomorrow's problems. I want to spend this moment with You. Give me Your peace before I make another decision.

Show me what's mine to do, what I can influence, and what I need to entrust to You. You already see what I cannot see.

When I feel trapped in this particular moment, remind me that my whole life isn't contained in it. Guide me today, provide what I need for today's responsibilities, sustain me when I'm tired, and help me recognize the next faithful step. I trust You with the rest of the road. In Jesus' name, amen.
